Nice to meet you! We are an experienced and close-knit team dedicated to providing high quality services to families and individuals throughout the Hudson Valley and Taconic regions. Debra J. McGinness, MSN, RN

Executive Director

My clinical, staff training and administrative background is strongly grounded in the field of developmental disabilities. I started my professional career as a pediatric nurse in 1977, working with high risk and special needs infants. In the mid-1980’s I expanded my professional direction to include children and adults with developmental disabilities. In 1990 I founded Select Temps, Inc. to provide ongoing staffing support to community programs serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and am happy to say these supports continue to this day.

In 2010 our Associate Executive Director partnered with me to launch Select Human Services, Inc. and we have been thrilled to offer a growing and diverse array of supports and services to over one thousand families and individuals in the Hudson Valley Region. We are facing challenging times and I, along with the entire agency staffing team are committed to assisting individuals and families to successfully navigate our ever-changing service delivery system. It’s all about individuals taking charge, finding meaning and fulfillment in life, and having the full support of those that help make this happen. I count it a wonderful privilege to take an active part in such an important endeavor!

William McGinness

Senior Executive Advisor

I have worked in the field of developmental disabilities since 1992 with our for profit agency Select Temps, Inc. We started by providing per diem staff relief for non-profit voluntary agencies throughout the metropolitan NYC area. This led to the creation of our own non-profit voluntary agency and expansion of our service areas with Select Human Services, Inc. While providing staff relief services for agencies and job opportunities for hundreds of people has been rewarding, expanding to direct services to individuals and their families on a more personal level has enriched our lives, our staff’s lives and the lives of the individuals we serve. We are very proud of our staff and our ability to serve as a valuable asset in our community.

Susanne M. Caruso

I am privileged to be the Chief Financial Officer for Select Human Services, Inc. I am a CPA and have worked in various industries throughout my career, with a concentration in public service and the Not-For-Profit world. I feel very much at home with the dedicated staff, individuals we serve and the mission of this wonderful organization.

Margaret Wicksman

Chief Operating Officer

I joined the Select Human Services family in April 2015 as their Human Resource Director. I received my MBA from Pace University. My career includes diverse experience in Human Resources, Office Services and Facilities Management in public/private; profit/non-profit and corporate environments. My previous employment was with an agency providing services to individuals (and their families) with intellectual/developmental disabilities from preschool through advanced age.

Dee Shenkar

Program Director

I joined Select in 2015. As a Program Director I oversee Medicaid Service Coordination and FSS/Short Term Family Assistance. Supporting individuals with Intellectual /Physical disabilities has become a passion. I received a Master’s in Social Work in 1989 with a concentration in Family and Children’s Services. Since that time, I have worked in various settings including a specialized foster care, medically fragile hospital unit, day treatment program, and a therapeutic preschool. I began working as an MSC in 2006. What has been a constant all these years is the reward I find in advocating for and assisting individuals lead more independent, productive, and meaningful lives. I am honored to be a part of the Select family!

Lauren Iglesias

Program Director

I joined the Select Human Service’s team in 2015 after working in the field for over ten years and oversee the HCBS Waiver department. I have worked as a Recreation Specialist, a Program Coordinator for Respite Programs and as a Transition Specialist throughout various school districts. I have a BA in Psychology and a MS in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University. I also have my New York State School Counseling Certification from Long Island University. I currently oversee the daily operations of our Community Habilitation Services, At Home Respite Services and FSS Crisis Respite Services. I am humbled to be a part of this team and to help people with developmental disabilities live more independent lives in the comfort of their family homes.

Theresa DelVecchio

Director of Staff Development/Person Centered Supports

I joined the Select Human Service’s team in 2015 and presently serve in the capacity of Director of Staff Development/Person Centered Supports. In my role I supervise our field supervisor and train and mentor Case Managers and Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s) to dynamically provide supports grounded in the DSP Code of Ethics and the seven goals of the DSP Core Competencies. As Coordinator of Staffing Development I will work to ensure that our staff are exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism as they support a person’s choices, goals, and independence. It’s all about helping each person to live their best life! I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Marist College, Master of Science from Mercy College and a School Counseling Certification in New York State. I’ve worked in the field of Human Services for 17 years in various capacities, beginning as a case manager with homeless teens and most recently as a vocational specialist with adults with disabilities. Helping people has always been my passion and I am honored to bring that passion to Select Human Services.

Juan J. Spencer

IT Director

I was given the privilege of working for Select Human Services in August of 2015. Although I have a BA degree from L.I.U., I have been working in the field of IT for over 20 years. I have extensive knowledge of computer programming as well as networking. I have worked as a database (FoxPro database) consultant, have also programmed in Visual Basic utilizing SQL Server as the backend database, and have provided oversight on multiple program management IT projects. I greatly enjoy working here and am looking forward to giving many years of service to this organization.

Judith Amir

Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)

My career in the field of Medicaid Service Coordination began in 2004 and I have not looked back since. I received my Master’s degree in Family and Marriage therapy in 2001 and have been able to incorporate that education into this field. Working with families and individuals with disabilities is quite demanding and yet at the same time gratifying. I know the important role we play in the lives of persons with disabilities and I hope to continue providing them with the support and assistance they need to make a difference in their lives.

Henry Bynes

Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)

I have worked in this field since 2012, joined Select Human Services, Inc. in 2013 and have a Master’s degree in school counseling. I love working with the individuals and families we serve. Being an MSC makes a difference. In fact, working in this field makes a difference, no matter what your position. Each day I am blessed to work with a group of AMAZING individuals who all have different experiences, different stories, and are now making a difference each day they come to work. Working in this field and traveling the county of Westchester I get to see so many different programs, services, and speak with good people who want to make a difference on the job and off the job. Each day is a new day and there is always something new to learn. Seeing the impact we all have on the individuals we work with and the impact our individuals have on us is amazing.

Shirley Godoi

Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)

I joined Select Human Services, Inc. in late 2015. I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and have a Master’s of Science in Human Services. I am a mother of three and am a strong advocate for my oldest child who was diagnosed at a very young age with autism and Asperger’s. Through my education and personal experiences I have learned to use multidisciplinary approaches which allow me to look at each person’s status and needs from different perspectives and come up with supportive solutions that will give each individual and their family the best possible outcome(s).

Amy Playford

Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)

I have been in the field since 2003. My life has been a challenge all of its own as I was born with Cerebral Palsy. I understand all too well what difficulties lay ahead when you are disabled; thus, this is why I am in the field of Human Services. My role as a Medicaid Service Coordinator is to advocate, support and coordinate many different services for the developmentally disabled population. It is a privilege to work for Select Human Services and have the opportunity to work for the developmentally disabled. We should not forget the individuals we serve as they are the one ones who teach us.

Awilda Rivera

Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC)

I began working as a Bilingual Medicaid Service Coordinator in 2000. I have been working with individuals with disabilities since 1989. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Arts of Education and a Master of Science in Education. I enjoy working with families and advocating for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. It is wonderful to assist them in securing services which provide opportunities to be part of our community.

Since 2005, I have been with Select and love the interaction with the individuals we serve and their families. Sabina Claxton

Case Manager

Working for Select Human Services, Inc. has been wonderful. I started in 2013 as a Community Habilitation staff and now I am a Case Manager. I am responsible for helping families and providing Community Habilitation and Respite services for their loved ones. Although it is very time consuming, it is also immensely gratifying. Helping individuals become as independent as they can possibly be and then seeing their progress, is amazing. I am happy to be able to help families and happy to be working for such a fantastic agency.

Patricia Fay

Case Manager

I have a certificate in childcare from Bank Street College of Education. I have been working with individuals with special needs since 1998 and was a Group Day Habilitation Case Manager since 2010. I enjoy working at Select Human Services, Inc. as a Waiver Services Case Manager. I have a good relationship with my supervisor and coworkers, but most importantly take joy in advocating and providing services for the individuals we serve.

Daniel Gilsenan

Field Supervisor

I have a BA in History but was drawn to working with individuals with disabilities since 2011 in various capacities. My roles have ranged from a direct service provider at a group residence to activity coordinator for a day habilitation program. I started with Select Human Services, Inc. in 2016 as a case manager for community habilitation and respite services and now work as the department's Field Supervisor, training and mentoring DSP's as well as working with families and their service teams. I take great pride in helping people achieve the most they can out of their lives. I look forward to using all my experience and training to help support the individuals and their families that we provide services for.

Maristella Pastilha

Case Manager

I am privileged to be part of the Select Human Services waiver team as a case manager supporting community Habilitation and Respite services. In this capacity I will be working with individuals to achieve the best quality of life for them as well as their family. With a background as an Activity Specialist and Activity Coordinator for Day Habilitation, I have extensive experience in assisting individuals achieve their goals of living independent lives. Along with our dedicated team at Select I am committed to making a positive impact to all the individuals I support. Additionally, I am fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and will help families where English is their second language to advocate for loved ones.

I joined Select Human Services, Inc in May 2016 as Quality Improvement Coordinator. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University. Prior to joining the Select team, I have spent over 22 years working in various areas of the Developmental Disabilities field including Job Coaching, Vocational Counseling, and Corporate Compliance duties. Nicole Clark

I have a B.A. in Psychology from New York University (NYS) and have committed much of my adult life to endeavors that support the quality and value of the human experience. Since 2006 I have been a literacy volunteer at Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY and have also been a substitute teacher for the Pleasantville School district’s special education program. I have also had the privilege of serving as president of the Pleasantville Middle School PTA as well as PTA chairperson for the cultural arts program offered at all three schools. I am excited to now be qualified to serve as a broker for individuals choosing to self-direct. I believe self-direction can support positive life paths that speak to a person’s needs, hopes and dreams. I am mature, responsible and committed to making whatever efforts necessary to ensure a person is supported to live their best life.

I joined the Fiscal Intermediary (FI) Department in 2015. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy in Albany NY. I started my career in human services in 1991 with a wide range of service populations including foster care & adoption, homeless, chronic medical conditions, physical & developmental disabilities and family violence. I have also provided individual therapy to adults & children and specialized in group therapy with teens.
